New Year’s Resolutions can be your greatest incentive or your greatest stressor. Some years you might get your resolutions right – meaning you set goals for yourself that you can and do achieve. You feel good when you reach your goals. This will drive you to continue to set goals.
Perhaps there are also times when you don’t achieve your resolutions. This can be because you set goals that are too big, demanding too much time. Or, to put it another way, your resolutions just don’t fit with your vibration.
New Year New You!
Every new year you start off with great enthusiasm and even have a vision of how well and successful you will be as a result of these resolutions. I totally know this place too. But over the last number of years I have had a change of thought when it comes to resolutions.
Perhaps by the end of this post you will hit the Re-Set Button on how you view and approach your goals so you can have success with your New Years Resolutions this time round. I’m also gifting you with a FREE Guide to Setting New Years Resolutions.
Successful New Years Resolutions
Even just writing this heading raises my energy. Wouldn’t it be amazing if just writing resolutions or goals could bring success. But how can you make your New Years Resolutions truly successful? Some would say that the secret to success with New Years Resolutions is not to set them in the first place.
I don’t agree. We tend to live better and more positive lives when we do set and achieve attainable goals. Goals keep you focused and clear. The real secret is to set your goals at a level of success that you mentally and physically can reach. The challenge is not to create goals that are too far out of your reach!
Why Am I Failing At My Resolutions and Goals?
From all my work with myself and my clients I would say that most failure to meet goals or achieve resolutions is down to STRESS!
Stress Can Come In Many Forms:
There’s the negative thoughts that go on consciously and sub-consciously. They tell you that you are not good enough, not able to cope, not worthy of success. These thoughts probably got lodged into your energy in early childhood, thanks to unresolved experiences back then.
You are not even aware of these thoughts, but you you are being controlled by them subconsciously and this can be a major factor in why you don’t reach your personal goals.
I find Two Meridian Tapping really good for changing my unresolved stressed thinking patterns. Of course Christmas and New Year are really good times for raising your stressed energy levels. This is mainly because most of our unresolved childhood events are family related. Who do we tend to connect with or feel the loss of at Christmas time? Yew – FAMILY!
Then there are the foods that trigger the stress response in you or you think might ease your stress – but they don’t . Processed sugar and trans fats are at the top of the stress triggering list. They are also the foods you crave when stressed! So, you crave them when stressed and then when you eat them, they trigger more stress!
More and more I tend to see that every person can tend to have other foods that they are not able to tolerate that well. Remember too that when you are in a constant stressed state you are not able to digest your food properly. This can leave partially digested foods fermenting in your gut – causing more and more stress!
Exercise is good for you. Of course it is! Except when it’s not! Every single person on this planet is unique. We all have our own unique energy vibration. The physical body does need daily weight bearing motion for it to work at its best. You do need to be physically active each and every day, but you do not need to be lifting weights or climbing mountains to get the weight bearing motion for your body to work well. Many people are over-exercising which is putting their energy system under huge stress.
Too little exercise can also cause stress. When you are not exercising your lymphatic system is not working properly. Going up and down stairs is great for the lymphatic system.
Getting the Exercise Balance Right
I created Rebound For Wellness Programmes to offer people a way of getting into exercising for wellness and not fitness. Rebounding has been clinically proven (by NASA scientists) to be 68% more effective than running or jogging. So around 20 minutes on the rebounder is like an hour pounding the roads…
Lack of Water Causes Huge Stress To Your Body
Did you know that a lack of water can create huge stress and prevent you from being able to sleep. Dehydration causes constipation, sleeplessness, depression, anxiety, and much more. Think of a car. Without the right amounts of oil and water it won’t work. You are exactly the same. You need your daily intake of essential fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A, D, E and K and good drinkable water.
Stress Affects Your Brain
I have listed some key areas that can cause great stress in your energy system and so prevent you from being able to meet your New Years Resolutions. The reason being when you are stressed you cannot access that conscious logical thinking part of your brain where all your recent goals and aspirations are kept. But you can access the subconscious part of your brain where your unresolved self-sabotaging scripts get to rule your thinking.
The secret is to lower and manage your stress levels. Then set good clear goals that you will work towards and not seek to reach them over night. Setting Realistic Goals Breeds Success.
Having A New Year’s Resolution Plan Is Your Key To Success
Through my training in the Law of Attraction and Energy Psychology, I know that what you focus your energy on is what you get. That is why it is so important to always set goals that are achievable and don’t put you under stress. When you work from an ‘I can do’ place, you tend be able to see yourself as being more capable of doing what you need to do. Check out my FREE Guide To Making New Years Resolution Plans:
First Step: Set a New Year’s Resolution – Goal
New Years Resolutions Can Take A Year To Achieve
A New Years Goal doesn’t have to be successful on day one. But you can begin the journey toward that goal from day one. Take giving up cigarettes. Not very many people can go cold turkey, but they try. Then they give in and take a cigarette and feel they have failed. This can lead to them marking that resolution as a failure. But when you take the whole year approach you give yourself a whole year to reach your goal.
You are going to be working towards this goal over the year. Be realistic in the setting of your goal. It is also a great idea to give yourself monthly and weekly challenges and a Kinesiologist or coach can help you do this.
Most New Years Resolutions fail because they are not realistic given your current life experience and situation. Perhaps your goals could be around reducing your stress levels and finding the exercise and diet that would work for you.
In Kinesiology sessions I test to find exactly what is putting your energy under stress and then what will help you to bring this back into balance – naturally.
Take Weight Loss
Your Goal could be to lose weight. But if your eating is due to your unresolved childhood stresses you will find losing weight very difficult. First you will need to go and resolve your stressed thoughts and beliefs. Those stressed thoughts and beliefs are what can be triggering you into stressed eating.
This can be the dame with exercise, sleep, meeting work goals.. retuning your stress will retune your life and your ability to meet your New Years Goals.
Everything Is Vibrational – Including New Year’s Resolutions
Remember everything is vibrational – the universe is gifting you with more of what you are vibrating at. If you keep setting a goal to lose weight, then you will have weight to lose. If you set a goal of being ‘pain free’ you will have pain to be free of!
Set your New Year’s Resolutions with a positive focus, in the present tense, as if you already have it right now. It is sort of like ‘faking it til you make it’, but what you are doing is creating the vibration you want. Then, the more you think that thought and imagine yourself having reached that goal your vibration is attracting that very vibration into your energy field.
My Advice For Setting Successful New Year’s Resolutions is:
- Set a realistic goal for you to achieve by end of 2023.
- Then set a Plan for how you will help yourself reach this goal during 2023.
- Set smaller goals that will be like stepping stones to help you get to that goal
- Map out your smaller achievable steps – the “I Can Do it” steps
- Get a yearly calendar and map out your steps so you know what you want to achieve, when and you can see a path to your achieving your goal
- Tell a trusted, supportive friend or coach what your intention is and how you are going to work it out, asking them to check in with you at regular intervals through the year – this is to help you keep to what you have set for yourself.
- Book a session with RetuningME to find out what is causing your energy to get stressed and most importantly what natural remedies and techniques will help you bring it all back into balance.
