There have been many symptoms attributed to menopause. If you are peri menopausal, menopausal or post menopausal you could rhyme off a whole list of symptoms that you have had.
Some Menopause Symptoms
Some menopause symptoms are physical like aches and pains, sore joints, palpitations, bloating, headaches, fatigue, bladder infections, etc. Others are more attributed to your mental well-being, like; anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, feeling overwhelmed, always on edge, not believing in yourself, paranoia, or that feeling of ‘loosing it’ all the time! There is a third portion of symptoms that are more related to your soul wellness, like feel ungrounded, lost, lacking purpose, not having meaning, feeling disconnected, wondering what your life has been about, etc.
I Know These Menopause Symptoms
I have had some and possibly all of the above through my menopause journey and indeed before that journey ever began. If I were being honest, I would say that my mental health or wellness has been challenged throughout my life. This was really brought to the fore when I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress over 20 years ago.
Past Childhood Trauma and Menopause
Past childhood trauma that does not get resolved through your life, will rear its head again in menopause, in the hope that you will get it resolved. Any unresolved negative experiences from your life will tend to come to the surface at this time. That is because of the stressed energy level in your system.
When you are constantly in a stressed state you get fatigued and are less likely to be able to cope. You also tend to automatically access all the unresolved subconscious negative beliefs that you have about yourself. This will then continue to knock out all your neurotransmitter energies and your hormones.
My Training Gives Me Insight
Having trained in Kinesiology and many other complementary and energy therapies, I have a much better insight into mental wellness. This is why I now have a very rounded and ground approach to my own mental health and menopause journey.
A stressed Energy System Cannot Cope With Menopause
I have said it already in previous posts that I believe stress causes and/or magnifies many of the menopause symptoms you and I are having. Prolonged stress prevents you from being able to balance your neurotransmitter energies and hormones. Prolonged stress also fatigues your adrenal glands and lowers your immunity and your ability to digest food.
The Gut Brain Connection and Menopause
We have this gut brain connection – there is a lot of scientific research done on the gut brain connection. Bottom line; the health of the gut determines the health of the mind and the health of the mind (ability to cope with stress and become stressed) directly affects the health of the gut! Remember the gut cannot digest food properly when you are in a stress response.
A Wellness Plan Helps Your Menopause
To help you have a better mental state through the menopause you really do need to have a rounded and ground daily wellness programme. This really needs to involve; your daily diet, your water intake, your exercise regime, your work-life balance, your thought process and pretty much everything else about your environment.
Mental Wellness In Menopause Takes Work
In my experience, having a strong and healthy mental state takes work. Daily wellness takes daily work. This work doesn’t have to be hard to do. In my case it involves some Tapping, positive chants, having an attitude of gratitude, rebounding, minimal sugar in my diet, 1.5 – 2 litres of water, minimal alcohol and coffee, etc. I see all these habits as being key to helping me maintain my mental wellness.
I Learnt The Hard Way, I Hope You Learn Easier
Trust me when I say I learnt this the hard way. But now I know what I know, I have a greater commitment to doing what I do for my rounded and grounded wellness every day and that includes the menopause.
I write these posts on menopause and wellness in the hope that you can understand how everything in your life, your day and in your past has a bearing on your your mental wellbeing, your menopause wellness and your overall wellness. When you know this, and when you get what this means, you can easily commit to making better wellness choices everyday.
Your Brain Is A Muscle
Like every other part of your physical body, your brain is a muscle that is made up of many cells. Each one of those cells needs to be feed and kept in a healthy state. Your brain muscle needs to be exercised daily to keep it working for your best mental wellness. Brain integration exercises are good as well as daily mental challenges. This could be doing a cross-word, any word puzzle or sudoku.
The Brain Is Your Problem Solving Tool
The brain is not a memory bank. It is not somewhere you store your shopping list, etc. Rather, it is a problem solving tool. You are not meant to remember everything. But you are meant to be able to access your memory bank when needed. It is really important to feed your brain with good healthy and when possible organic fruit and vegetables. The brain also needs some good fat soluble vitamins like vitamin d, e and a.
When it comes to good nutrition, I tend to use Epigenetics who have just published some really good information on some key 100% natural and organic products they have that can help with your menopause.
Daily Effort Will Reap Daily Results
When you exercise your brain daily, give it good hydrating water, feed it good nutrition and then allow it to rest you will reap the benefits, be this during menopause or at any other time of you life. When you are over-stressed your brain cannot be your problem solving tool, rather it goes into the flight and fight mode of the stress response. It is in your own best interests to keep yourself calmer, more relaxed, less stressed, etc..
The Brain and Oestrogen
Also when you are over stressed and depleting in oestrogen, your body will begin to rob what oestrogen you have in your brain cells. This further amplifies the mental symptoms of anxiety, depression and irrational thinking, etc. Calming stress and taking good nutrition and water will help.
What Do I know?
I know you are thinking ‘that is all well and good for you to say’. I say all this because of my own experiences. I know that when I plan my own life properly and stick to my habits of Two Meridian Tapping, Rebounding, healthy eating, water drinking and good nutrition, I keep myself in a calmer, more rested state. I know only too well what will happen when I get stressed and I prefer not to go there.
