
If you wake in the night with your head racing, bladder full and perhaps your heart pumping, you may be in a subconscious stress response.
Your Stress Response Is Always On
When you have a lot of stresses in your life, your stress response goes into overdrive. That stress response doesn’t seem to switch off and causes you to go into a ‘hyper-vigilant’ state.
When you are in this hyper-vigilant state your head races pretty much all of the time. It does this because it is looking for danger all of the time. It finds problems with the simplest of things and sometimes creates problems and quite often none of it makes sense to you.

You can really struggle with switching off this ‘always on’ stress response. The main reason for this is that it is all going on automatically in your vast subconscious memory bank of data. This means you are not fully aware of what is going on, so how can you stop it?
But what you do know is when you are always seeing the problem, or always focusing on the negative, you are in this ‘always on stressed state’.

You might think, ‘this is crazy, sure I have nothing to be stressed about’. That is the trouble with the subconscious state. There was a time when you were aware that you were stressed, but because it didn’t get resolved it became part of your automatic thought system and your whole energy got used to it.
Now what you have is negative thinking, being easily irritated, poor sleep, digestive issues, aches and pains, menopause stress, and calming your stress response can help you ease a lot of these symptoms.
My Natural Approach To Stress At Night
I don’t know about you, but I sure have had occasions when I have wakened in the night my head racing. I know at this stage in my life that it is all about stress, so
- I first visit the bathroom to relieve the bladder.
- Then I take a sip or two of water and swivel the water around my mouth before swelling to rehydrate quicker.
- Next I do some Two Meridian Tapping – to calm my head and my heart.
- After a short time, I notice my breathing has relaxed and I begin to feel tired.
- I finish with a guided imagery piece of retuning my energy to bright rainbow colours.
- Normally I am sleeping before I get past my head.
Tapping Can Reduce Annoyance, Anger and Resentment
When I am Tapping – the Two Meridian Way, it is important that I am thinking and saying exactly what is going on for me. First I will honour what is going on in me with a Tapping statement like: ‘I truly am annoyed because …’ after even just one round I will find my energy calming down. Two Meridian Tapping allows me to catch up with my annoyed self. Sometimes I get insight into why I am annoyed, upset, stressed, and sometimes I don’t.
It’s the middle of the night. I really just want to return to a restful sleep. If something does come to me, I will tap a round or two on that something which is normally unresolved, from my past, and it is triggering me at some level.

She explained to me how she was annoyed at the person but more at her self for getting triggered again!
