With Nuala O Connor @Retuning Me

Over the last number of weeks I have been writing about Candida (which is a form of fungal overgrowth). I have looked at sugar and stress and the key roles they play in creating and maintaining fungal overloads in our system. You can read those posts here.
While sugar and stress play big roles in creating the environment for a fungus to get out of control in our body, there is another element that helps a fungus to develop and grow – dampness. Think of your garden or anywhere you see mushrooms grow.
Mushrooms Are Fungus
Mushrooms are a fungus after all. On that note, we also know that mushrooms can be healing for us – in the right environment. But quite often the person who has a severe Candida or Fungal Overgrowth will not be able to tolerate certain mushrooms until the overgrowth is calmed.
Here are some examples of healing mushrooms
- Maitake.
- Cordyceps.
- Shiitake.
- Reishi.
- Turkey Tail.
Having a 360º Approach to Wellness
I always talk about having a 360º approach to Wellness and Success. When it comes to understanding fungal overgrowths like Candida we also need to take a 360º approach.
Fungus grow in damp and cold environments. Like the mushrooms we see in forests, the garden, etc. Winter is prime time for mushrooms, it is damp, cold and dark. I always say what you see around you is also possible within you.
What Creates The Environment Within You For Fungal Overgrowth
We are over 70% water so it would be fair to say that we are pretty fluid. Water is flowing through us all the time. Did you know that the latest technology for holding memory is a water? But it’s not just because we are made of water that we are prone to fungal overloads in our system like Candida.
A Flowing Stream
Think of a flowing stream, or the sea, there are no mushrooms growing in the flowing water. But you might find them along the edge of the stream, near trees, or bushes where it is wet and damp and because of the shade it is also cold and dark. You will also find then in water logged fields, and stagnant water with no flow.
Our Energy Stream
When our energy is flowing freely in our body, just like the water of the stream, there are no fungal overgrowths. But, when our energy isn’t flowing so freely – when it gets blocks up with things like processed sugar, over exercising, stress, darkness, damp weather conditions then we begin to create a pretty good breeding ground for a fungus to grow.
Sugar Creates The Damp Environment In Us For Fungus To Grow
Through my work as a Kinesiologist I see many people who have fungal overloads in their system. Most will also show for having a parasitic overload either along side the fungal overload, or before/after the fungus has been balanced.
Here are some of the foods, events, beverages and habits that I find lead to that overload:
- Drinking cold fluids
- Eating Dairy products like yogurts, cheese, ice cream
- Eating sweets
- Chocolate
- Drinking beers and wine
- Sugary drinks
- Lack of sleep
- Past Trauma
- Being Stressed
- Over exercising – breaking down the bodies nutritional reserves
- Under exercising – not helping our lymphatic system to flow enough
A Stress Response That Is Always On Can Create Conditions For A Fungal Overload
In my earlier post on how stress affects a Candida or fungal overgrowth, I talked a little about how the stress response shuts down the digestive system so we can run or fight better. This leaves food lying in our gut waiting to be processed. If this food is of the processed sugary kind and it is lying in our intestines for a period of time, it will create the prime breeding ground, in our intestines for a fungus to grow out of control.
The lymphatic system is part of our immune system. It works along side our circulatory system, bringing energy to our cells and organs and taking away the natural waste we produce in any given day. When we do not exercise enough to keep this lymphatic system draining properly, we will again leave waste in our bodies, fermenting way. Guess what will love this condition? Yes, fungus and parasites.

Kinesiology Could Be The Best Gift You Give To Yourself
Next week I am going to explore what I consider to be some the best solutions to getting a hold on Candida and Fungal Overgrowth in Your Body, but if I were to be totally honest, the absolute best way is to go visit a Systematic Kinesiologist and have some energy testing done. They will get a 360º view of your whole energy system and then find what will work to help you get everything back into balance.
Kinesiology Offers a 360º Approach To Fixing Candida and Fungal Overgrowth
Kinesiology works to not just get the fungal overgrowth balanced, it also looks at helping you balance what created that overload in your system in the first place. It could have been an unresolved past event that left an emotional energy out of balance. This then has been triggering a subconscious stress response in you ever since. Perhaps your diet needs balanced. You could be lacking in some key nutrients and need a little supplementation for a while.
A visit to a kinesiologist is probably the best gift you could give yourself at any time in your life.
