For the next number of weeks I am going to post a little about Candida.

The content of the posts will largely come from my own lived experience of fungal overloads and how I continue mange my wellness. I will also draw on my 15 years experience as a Systematic Kinesiologist.
These posts in no way suggest that you should not consult your doctor should you feel the need to do so. In my view candida and fungal overgrowth weaken our immune system and our digestive system and are the leading cause of inflammation in these areas.
When we have lots of inflammation along with fungal overgrowths, we become breeding grounds for cancer cells. I am not saying that inflammation causes cancer, but it sure doesn’t stop it – fungus does feed cancer cells. So we need to learn what creates and feeds a fungus and stop doing that, so we can reduce the inflammation levels in our body.
I need also to say that there are other factors in creating inflammation, like stress and injury. But for now, let us look at fungal overloads like candida and how we might be able to get them reduce and cleared from our body, like I did.
When it comes to candida and fungal overgrowth there are three main areas that I want to make you most aware of:
- Sugar – processed sugary foods and drinks
- Stress – All Kinds
- Damp environments including cold and damp foods
This post will take a brief look at sugar – processed sugar!
Why does Processed Sugar Affect Candida?

Sugar
Processed Sugar is taking over from stress as being the leading cause of most illness. When I talk about sugar, I am referring to processed sugar as well corn syrup, maple syrup and the like. I recently bought a book on my Kindle called The Case Against Sugar, written by Gary Taubes. The book contains a very in-depth history of the growth of the sugar market. Gary shows how conditions like diabetes and some cancers began to increase right along side the processed sugar evolution. Things like ice-cream and lemonade were introduced around the late 1800’s with soft drinks coming just after. By the end of the first world war Americans were drinking more than 3 billion bottles of soft drinks a year.
That is all I am going to say about the Case Against Sugar, I want to focus more on how sugar causes and feeds fungus and candida growths. Processed sugar is too much for our body to break down, especially if we are over-stressed and triggering a subconscious stress response. When we are in this state we are unable to break down the sugar at all and so it ferments in our digestive system causing all sorts of inflammation in our microbiome.
Fungus thrives on sugar and then feeds other unhelpful pathogens in our body. All this causes inflammation and when our cells are inflamed, they are ripe for cancer cells to feed on. with a weakened and inflamed system we are much more susceptible to cancer cell mutation. I don’t say this to cause you alarm, but rather to make you aware.
We Are Conditioned To Like Sugar
Big Sugar has really exploited our sweeter taste buds and our need for getting energy fast when we are overstretched and overstressed. Many thousands of years ago our ancestors pulled fruit off low hanging trees as they literally were running away from danger. Now we pull chocolate bars off shelves as we literally run from one thing to another.

Through the decades of television ads we have been conditioned to believe that sugar is meeting our energy needs. There is no nutritional value in sugar and the energy we think we get from it is what I would call ‘false energy’.
How I First Learned About False Energy
That is what I discovered some 20 years ago when I was taken off all forms of sugar by a kinesiologist after she used Vega testing to check my energy. When all relevant sugars were taken out of my diet to allow my digestive system to rest and repair, I literally fell flat on the floor. Then I discovered how stressed and weak I really was.
I could not think straight, walk, was in pain all the time, couldn’t sleep or eat. All the food I was eating was just running through me. I needed help and fast. I knew I had some sort of cough and my legs were so tired every day that I would lie on the floor and raise them against t a wall to see if that would help.
I got that I needed to rest my system and my body, but I missed the bit where I was told it would take a while to do all this and I was very weak. This bit had come from the energy testing, not the doctor. I now know that it was the fungal over load that had left my immune system so weakened. but not just the fungal overload, there was plenty of stressors and I do live in a cold, damp country – that didn’t help either!
I’ll tell you more about my journey next week. Before I sign off this post let me tell you a little about what candida and fungal overloads look like.
Some Of The Conditions That Could Tell You Have Candida
- Consistent digestive issues such as bloating, constipation or diarrhoea
- Poor memory or difficulty concentrating
- Skin problems like rashes, hives, even eczema and psoriasis
- Mood Swings, anxiety, being easily irritated or depressed
- Recurring infections especially in the bladder, vagina, urinary track, gut and skin
- Poor control of urination
- Recurring sinus problems
- Chronic inflammation
- Constant mucus discharge
- Allergies
- Sugar Cravings – sweets, buns, bread, sugar in drinks, fizzy drinks
- Addictions – normally a sign there is a sugar craving
- Fatigue
- Thrush in mouth or vaginal area
- Autoimmune diseases
- Athlete’s Foot
- Toenail fungus
- Exhaustion
- Short bursts of energy followed by massive drops in energy levels
- Sleep issues
- Snoring and sleep apnoea
I could keep going, but I think you are getting the picture. You could have some of these conditions right now, but did you ever think it was down to a fungal infection?
Candida And Fungal Overloads Feed Parasites
I know you may not want to talk about Candida or what it can do to us, but I think you might need to read this because, when we have a strong fungal overgrowth, we generally also have a strong parasitic presence in our body too. Now before we go any further, I do need to say that our human biome does have a certain amount of fungi, bacteria, parasites and viral pathogens working away in it at the best of times. So don’t be thinking there is something wrong with this.
The problem is when these things get out of control – so out of control that they drain all the energy from our body. Parasites need to feed on something and partially digested foods from a stressed gut and poor chewing regime are feasts for these little beings. So too is an over stressed mind and a fungal overgrowth.
There Are Natural Solutions For Rebalancing Fungal Overgrowth and Candida

I already told you how my journey to wellness began with a visit to a kinesiologist, well there were two different kinesiologists because the first one lived too far away and I had now been taken off all my false energy so, I more local therapist was needed. I lived in Belfast at the time and was lucky to find the person I needed quite close to me.
The truth is, processed sugar needs to go! From your diet, your fridge, your kitchen, and your family. But don’t take my word for it. Go visit a kinesiologist, either face to face or online and have a consultation. They can muscle test you to find out what foods are overloading your system right now. They can also check to see what nutritional supplements and herbs can help restore your biome. Next they can work on retuning your stress levels and help you restore balance in your life again.
It may take a few sessions, but the journey is worth it to have you feeling better in yourself. It is also going to take commitment from you. You will need to commit to taking candida growing foods our of your diet. You will need to take supplements and herbs daily and there could be a few other things to do. Trust me when I say, it is worth it to have energy in your day again.
20 years ago there were not a lot of kinesiologists in Ireland. Now, there are many more. You can book an online session with myself, or email me and I can let you know if there is a Systematic Kinesiologist in your area.
Next week I will share some more about Fungus and Candida and how to work on fixing our biome with natural ways. Until then why don’t you perhaps begin reducing your sugar intake each day, even by just one bar, one soft drink, one cake. By the end of the week you will be down 9 sugary things a day. That might be all of them and then again when you stand back and take a long hard look at your patterns, you might find a few more sugary things that you first thought!
